DIVISION 2 FINAL ON MAY 6TH   22/04/2018

It was nail biting stuff in Kinnegad yesterday but after a terrific second half and some great work by the cousins Lauren Fitzpatrick and Caoimhe Condon Tipp overcame Armagh by just the narrowest of margins to reach a the Division 2 league final.  They got off to a great start with an early goal by Mairead Morriseey but Armagh soon halled them back and by the end of the first half the northeners lead by 12points to six 2-6 to 1-3 and Armagh had an explosive start to the second half with a goal by Blaithin Mackin after just nineteen seconds.  But the introduction of subs like Kate Davey, Rachel O Donnell and Sarah Everard and the return to an orthodox 15 turned the tide in favour of the Premier girls.  Tipp no longer playing with a sweeper pushed up on the Armagh kick outs and began to win the mid field battle and after missing three points Aishling Moloneys free got the score board ticking and goals from Gilian O Brien a fine team effort and another from Roisin Howard had the sides all square going into the final minutes. Heroine of the day among many was young Kate Davey who slotted over the winning point to give Tipp a hard earned victory in a tough league semi-final. The other semi-final was won by Cavan who will be Tipp's opponents in the League final on May 6th 2018.  The division 1 and Division 2 finals are scheduled to take place in Parnell Park in Dublin on Sunday 6th May the Div 2 final being the curtain raiser to the eagerly awaited rematch between the senior All Ireland Finalist of 2017 Dublin V Mayo.

Caoimhe Condon picked up the player of the match award for th semi-final for her tireless work in the middle of the field. Just one of the many excellent performances from all of the Tipp girls
