u-16 Cahir v Cappawhite   12/03/2019

Our under 16s took to the field last night under lights on a a very cold and windy night in Cappawhie. Playing against the wind a saying came to mind "A goalkeeper cannot win a match she can only save it" and this was true of our keeper Abby Noonan last night. She gave a fantastic display of goalkeeping even receiving the admiration of the opponents coaches. Our fullback line of Holly Keating who had one of her best games yet, Aine Grace and Niamh Ryan were strong all night keeping Cappawhite at bay. Our half back line of Aoife Fahey, Anika Maloney and the very talented Emily Coffee0-1 were superb all night. Our midfield had a tough night as with Cahir only able to field 14 these girls had to pick up Cappawhites extra girl all night but Niamh Costigan0-3 and Caoimhe Grace never let it get them down and with great gusto won what was a battle for midfield possession. Our forwards really came into the game into the second half with the wind at their backs they took their chances and all their work paid off. Leah flannery2-2 was great and with her dad Steven on the sideline coaching her she never put a foot wrong. Our other half forwards of Mary Delaney0-1 and Emily Kirby1-0 were reaping the rewards of that strong galeforce wind at their backs. Our two fullforwards of Shianne McDonnagh1-0 and Emma Brown were picking up every ball that came ln and pressurized the Cappawhite keeper all night. Well done to the girls on a great win. Final score was Cahir 3-7 Cappawhite 2-5. The girls are out in action again on the 24th at home to Arravale Rovers.
