Provincial Referee Academy Programme   15/04/2019

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association is delighted to announce the start of a NEW Provincial Referee Academy for aspiring referees aged 18-25 years who are currently officiating in your county. This is a new initiative welcoming referees from all counties to take part, both male and female, with each county allowed to nominate two referees, one of which should be a female.

The course consists of 10 provincial contact days from 2019 to 2020 which will focus on Technical, Physical, Mental and Tactical development whilst also providing practical referee experience on top of ongoing support and advice.

This is an exciting step for our referee development and applications to enrol in the programme are now being accepted and we would appreciate if you can forward this to aspiring referees in your county or feel free to identify yourselves. All nomination papers will need to be signed off by the county executive ensuring you are involved throughout the whole process.

Participants are requested to complete the attached nomination form ‘2019 Academy Referee Application’ and send to you as county secretary by 22nd April. Your county executive will then decide which two nominees you wish to forward for the programme and complete the section on the form in relation to why they should be accepted. Please forward the two forms and the attached ‘County Board Nomination Form’ and return to Clare Dowdall, National Development Officer, by 26th April.

We would encourage all counties to see this as an opportunity and please do not allow any potential participant to miss out as it could be the start of an amazing career for them and instigated by you as county executive members.
