The DLP will be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children in their club. S/he is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to Tulsa, the Garda Shiochana or Social Services ( NI) through or in conjunction with the National Mandated Person attached to their association. In the case of LGFA, the National Mandated person is Ms. Paula Prunty.

The position of DLP is by appointment through the club executive and should a club fall into difficulty identifying a suitable candidate to fulfill the role the club Chairperson is automatically installed as DLP.
