Moyle Rover's Win Junior 'C' League
May 24, 2016
Report by Paudie Everard
Moyle Rovers are the Junior c county champions following a great win over Lattin Cullen. Played in ideal conditions last Monday evening Moyle Rovers tore into the game with determination and fire and were rewarded with a point and a goal from the inform Aine Fitzgearld. The good start gave Moyle Rovers the platform for victory and they were playing well all over the field. Goalie Claire Moore made three top class saves to deny Lattin certain goals and we went to the break 2-7 to 0-3 ahead. Hard working Captain Orla Ryan scored four points from play. The second goal came from our immense midfielder Cora Maher on 25 minutes and this set us up nicely with a cushion at the break. Our girls went out for the second half in equally determined mood and continued a brilliant game of football, full of strong running, hard work and well taken scores.
Lattin contributed enormously this game and it was far from over when they scored their second goal to narrow the lead to six points. Credit to our girls they pushed on again with some well worked points and Orla Ryan had a goal to take the pressure off.
The final score was 3-15 to 3-6.
Well done to all our players and panel members who were part of the preliminary games and final. Every player was outstanding on the night and we congratulate Lattin also for their contribution to a fine sporting and highly entertaining game of football. The Management team of Sean Brosnan, Marie Mulcahy, Seamus Delahunty, and Paudie Everard were delighted for the team. Our thanks to Catherine and Danni Delahunty for their support during the campaign.
Also Paddy McMeel for gate and Sharon OâConnor for the food afterwards for both teams.
