Fethard ladies Under 16 girls qualified for the Under 16 A county football final following their semi final win over Thurles Sarsfields on a scoreline of Fethard 1-14 Thurles Sarsfields 1-05. Awaiting the girls in the county final were reigning champions Aherlow who had defeated the girls in the group stages. In the county final in Sean Treacy Park Tipperary the Fethard girls were quickly into their stride and took the game to Aherlow from the start playing attacking football with some excellent scores taken by the midfielders and the forwards while the backs and goalkeeper never gave their opponents a chance to settle into the game with their defending keeping the Aherlow forwards at bay resulting in a great win for the girls on a scoreline of Fethard 3-16 Aherlow 0-09. This group of girls have shown huge improvement over the years, they were beaten in the Under 12 C county final in 2013 and then went on to win the Under 14 B in 2015 and now in 2017 are Under 16 A county champions, a just reward for the work put in by the girls over the years.
