Tipperary Ladies Football and Camogie Unite for 2025 Club Fixture Launch
In a landmark move towards unity and inclusivity, Tipperary Camogie and Tipperary Ladies Football have officially launched their 2025 Club fixtures in a collaborative effort that marks a new era for women's Gaelic games in the county.
The event, which took place on Friday 14th February in the Davin Room in Hayes Hotel, highlighted the commitment of both organisations to streamlining schedules, enhancing player experience, and fostering a stronger sense of community. Speaking at the launch were Damian Johnston Tipperary LGFA Chairperson and Grainne O’Leary Tipperary Camogie Chairperson, both of whom emphasised the significance of this step.
Key Highlights of the Joint Fixture Launch:
• Unified Scheduling: By aligning fixtures, both organisations aim to minimise scheduling conflicts, ensuring that players can fully commit to both Camogie and Ladies Football without compromise.
• Enhanced Support: A coordinated calendar allows fans and families to attend more matches, strengthening community engagement and growing support for women’s sports in Tipperary.
• Paving the Way for Integration: This initiative reflects the broader movement towards the full unification of Gaelic games associations, with the LGFA, Camogie Association and GAA, working towards integration by 2027.
Speaking at the launch, Grainne O’Leary expressed her enthusiasm for this milestone:
"We are delighted to be here with our colleagues in the LGFA for this historic night that we jointly launched our club fixtures. A lot of work has gone in, in the last couple of weeks with our fixtures secretaries Paddy and Mairead and their respective committees "
Damian Johnson echoed this sentiment, stating:
"A serious amount of work has gone in over the last 2 months. Both our Fixtures Committees have done all the work in the background. When I came in, in late November it was the first thing I wanted to do get rid of clashes and keep girls playing whatever sport"
This joint fixture launch not only celebrates the dedication of players and volunteers but also underscores the commitment to equality and inclusivity in Gaelic games. As both organisations continue to work together to ensure that future generations of Tipperary athletes have the best possible opportunities to succeed in both Ladies Football and Camogie.
