Cappawhite were crowned Tipperary LGFA Junior D2 County Champions after a strong second-half performance saw them pull clear of St Pats in breezy conditions at Fethard Town Park.

The opening half was evenly contested, with both sides trading points in the early stages. Chloe O’Neill opened the scoring for Cappawhite after just five minutes, but St Pats soon responded with a burst of three points—two from the lively Zoe Duggan and one from Grace Noonan—to edge in front.

Cappawhite’s experienced forward Sarah Armshaw hit two fine points from play to keep her side in touch, but Duggan’s sharp shooting continued to trouble the defence as she added two more scores before the break. Just before half-time, Kayleigh Gammell pounced for a crucial goal, giving Cappawhite a narrow one-point lead at the interval, 1-4 to 0-6.

After the restart, St Pats drew level with an early point, but from there Cappawhite took control. A flurry of scores midway through the half, including a brilliant goal from Chloe O’Neill—her second major contribution of the day—helped stretch the lead. O’Neill then added a free, while Gammell and Roisin O’Neill chipped in with well-taken points to seal the victory.

Despite finishing with 14 players after Gammell received a late red card, Cappawhite’s defence stood firm, keeping St Pats scoreless for much of the second period.

Captain Chloe O’Neill led by example with a personal tally of 1-3, while Armshaw and Gammell also impressed in attack. For St Pats, Zoe Duggan was outstanding, contributing four points from play in a valiant effort.

Cappawhite’s blend of experience and youthful energy ultimately proved decisive as they lifted the Junior D2 County title, capping off a memorable season for the West Tipp club.
