Tipperary edge lively contest with strong attacking display against Limerick
Tipperary 6-13
Limerick 3-10
Tipperary emerged with a deserved victory after an entertaining and high-scoring encounter with Limerick in Round 4 of the MLGFA U16A Championship on Saturday, with the Premier girls showing plenty of attacking quality to come through a lively contest.
This was a far more open affair, with both sides carrying a threat in attack, but Tipperary’s ability to find the net at crucial stages ultimately proved the difference. While Limerick kept battling throughout and asked plenty of questions, Tipperary always looked capable of producing the scores needed to stay in front.
Tipperary’s inside line caused problems all through the game and there were some excellent individual displays in attack. Farrah Madigan was in outstanding form, finishing with 2-04, including one goal from the penalty spot, while Emma Cullinan also made a major impact with 2-03 in a sharp and energetic performance.
There was further firepower from Emily Fanning, who contributed 1-04, while substitute Sarah O’Sullivan added a goal to put further daylight between the sides. Órla Pamplin and Kate Molumby also chipped in with useful scores, ensuring Tipperary maintained a steady return throughout the hour.
The game had a good tempo from the outset, with both teams willing to attack and move the ball quickly. Limerick posed a real threat going forward and kept themselves firmly in contention with a strong scoring return of 3-10, but Tipperary’s finishing power in front of goal gave them the edge when it mattered most.
There was plenty of honest work done all over the field by the Tipperary side, who showed good resilience whenever Limerick threatened to build momentum. Defensively, they had to work hard in what was a much more open game than the scoreboard might suggest, but there was enough composure and determination to see them through.
Tipperary also showed real character when the game was in the balance, responding well to Limerick scores and continuing to play on the front foot. Their willingness to attack and their clinical edge inside the scoring zone were key factors in getting over the line.
In the end, this was a very encouraging win for Tipperary in a game that tested them far more than a straightforward result ever would. The attacking return will certainly please the management, while the overall spirit and work-rate shown by the side were equally important.
There was no shortage of positives from a Tipperary point of view, particularly in attack, and this was another useful step forward for a team that continues to show promise.

Farrah Madigan 2-04, Emma Cullinan 2-03, Emily Fanning 1-04, Sarah O’Sullivan 1-00, Órla Pamplin 0-01, Kate Molumby 0-01.
