Aherlow capture Tipperary LGFA Camida Adult League Division 2

Aherlow produced a dominant second-half display to capture the Tipperary LGFA Camida Adult League Division 2 title with a deserved 4-6 to 1-3 victory over Lattin Cullen Emly in an entertaining decider on Saturday evening.
The champions made the perfect start when they rattled the net inside two minutes to immediately settle into the contest. However, Lattin Cullen Emly responded well and were right back in contention on five minutes when Katie Cunningham finished to the net after a strong attacking move.
With the sides level and the game finely poised, Aherlow began to take control through the middle third. Emma Morrissey edged them back in front from a free before a devastating spell midway through the half effectively laid the foundations for victory.
Una Carew struck for Aherlow’s second goal on 14 minutes and, less than a minute later, Emma Morrissey added another major to suddenly leave six points between the sides.
To their credit, Lattin Cullen Emly continued to battle hard, with Katie Cunningham converting a free and Isabel Heuston adding a fine point from play approaching the interval. Aherlow, though, maintained their advantage with an Aisling Ryan free helping them to a 3-2 to 1-2 lead at the break.
Lattin Cullen Emly opened the second half brightly when Isabel Heuston pointed from play, but Aherlow quickly regained control and never looked back.
Ciara McCarthy impressed throughout and landed two excellent points from play, while Emma Morrissey also added scores as Aherlow’s work rate and movement caused continual problems for the Lattin Cullen Emly defence.
Despite the best efforts of Lattin Cullen Emly, who battled tirelessly throughout, Aherlow’s defence remained solid and restricted their opponents to very few scoring opportunities in the second period.
The final score arrived six minutes from time when Aherlow struck for their fourth goal to put the result beyond any doubt and cap an impressive team performance.
For Aherlow, Emma Morrissey, Ciara McCarthy and Una Carew were particularly influential, while Katie Cunningham and Isabel Heuston battled hard for Lattin Cullen Emly.
Aherlow will now look forward with confidence after an impressive campaign, while Lattin Cullen Emly can take encouragement from their run to the final despite coming up against a stronger side on the day.
