St Patricks Junior A championship v Moycarkey Borris
June 23, 2019
Our junior ladies faced a tough first round Junior A championship match vs Moycarkey Borris Camogie & Ladies Football Club yesterday evening in Littleton. With many players unavailable, we faced into the game with just enough to field a team & hoping that no one would get injured. We struggled for long parts of the first half to keep pace with the quick moving runs of Moycarkey and despite our best efforts went in at half time: St. Patrick’s 1.1 Moycarkey 5.7.
The half time break and encouragement from team manager Michael Moroney and Helen Hogan team selector to win the second half, was the impetus to up the workrate and to get the scoreboard moving! There were some great moves and teamwork throughout the second half and despite not being able to close the big gap, we out scored Moycarkey in the second half by one goal! Full time score: St. Patrick’s 4.7 Moycarkey 7.13. Whilst the result was not the one we wanted, it was a good litmus indicator of the Junior A grade and this game will stand us well for upcoming rounds in the championship. Next up is an away game to Mullinahone, fixture not confirmed as yet.
Team: Sadhbh Morrissey, Abaigeal Maher, Sarah Walton, Erin O Brien, Rachel Butler, Aoife Doheny, Katie Mccormack, Clodagh Vaughan, Aileen Kelly, Una O'Brien, Eabha Hogan, Eimear Boland, Siobhán Vaughan, Caoimhe Ryan and Dearbhla Morrissey. Team management: Michael Moroney, Helen Hogan and Paula Ryan.
Special mention to Rachel Butler who made her Junior Ladies debut and what a game she had! Well done Rachel.
